Software License Renewals for Extensions

Software License Renewals for Extensions

How to renew your software licenses for premium extensions

Extensions for KB Support are licensed for a period of 1 year at a time. After that to continue receiving product updates and support, licenses must be renewed.

What happens if I do not renew my license?

  1. You will no longer be notified of, or be able to receive automatic security and feature updates for the product
  2. The download link in your KB Support site profile will disappear
  3. You will no longer have access to technical support for the product

Is there a discount for renewing?

We do not currently offer discounts for license renewals.

Can I purchase a lifetime license?

No. We do not offer lifetime licenses currently.

Can licenses be renewed early or late?

Yes. You can renew your license at any time. If however, you choose not to renew for an extended period of time, you may not qualify for the renewal discount.

Early Renewal Example: If you purchased your license in October 2016 and renewed in August 2017, your license would last until October 2018 as renewals provide an additional 1 year from the current expiry date.

Late Renewal Example: If you purchased your license in April 2016 and did not renew until July 2017, your renewed license would expire in July 2018 but you may have paid the full current price of the extension for the late renewal.

If I renew my license, do I need to also download the software and install it again?

No. Once you have renewed the system will realise that you have an active license and the automatic update system will work once again.

How do I know when I need to renew my license?

We will send you an email notification 4 weeks prior to license expiration and again 2 weeks later. Additionally, you may receive a notification within your WordPress dashboard.

How do I renew my license?

Simply follow the instructions in the email notification you received when your license was approaching expiration, or visit the Your Account page.

Will my extension work with an inactive or expired license?

Yes it will and this is legal. However you will miss out on critical security patches and new features within the extension. From time to time a change is made to the main KB Support plugin that also requires an update to the unlicensed extension, if your extension is unlicensed you will not receive this critical update and your extension may no longer work correctly.

Will my license renew itself automatically?

No. At this time we do not offer a recurring renewal feature.

What if I don’t want to renew?

You do not need to do anything. You will automatically stop receiving automatic updates for your unlicensed product(s).

If I have Live and Testing servers, do I need to activate my license on both sites?

No, you should only activate your license on your Live site.  You may still install your extension on your Test server and use it without an active license.
